<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Want to know how to fix a shallow latch? Having a proper latch when breastfeeding isn&#8217;t just about comfort; it&#8217;s integral to the <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/breastfeeding-101" rel="noopener noreferrer">success of your breastfeeding journey</a>. A shallow latch can lead to sore nipples and an underfed baby, making those calm, bonding moments a bit stressful. But don&#8217;t worry, adjusting your little one to latch on correctly can often be a quick fix away.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you&#8217;ve been experiencing pain during breastfeeding or your baby seems unsatisfied, it might be time to take a closer look at how they&#8217;re latching on.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What does ‘The Perfect Latch’ mean and why is it important?</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe title="5 SIMPLE steps to get the PERFECT breastfeeding latch (no more pain!)" width="720" height="405" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rByniktISq4?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The perfect latch is less about some unrealistic ideal and more about comfort and efficiency for you and your baby. When your little one <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://frombumptobubble.com/baby-keeps-pulling-off-breast-and-relatching">has a deep latch</a>, they’re not just nibbling on the nipple but drawing in lots of breast tissue so their little chin presses against your skin and their nose is clear, allowing comfortable breathing. This means your baby&#8217;s mouth covers more of the areola, not just the nipple &#8211; after all, it&#8217;s called &#8216;breastfeeding&#8217; not &#8216;nipple feeding&#8217;.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Here&#8217;s what a good latch looks like:</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p>Your baby&#8217;s lips should be flared out like a flower petal, not tucked in.</p></li>

<li><p>Their chin firmly touches your breast, but the nose is clear—no squishing involved!</p></li>

<li><p>You&#8217;ll notice rhythmic sucking and hear soft swallowing without any clicking or smacking noises.</p></li>
</ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Why a good latch matters:</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p><strong>Better breast milk flow:</strong> Your baby can drink more easily, and you&#8217;re able to maintain a healthy milk supply.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Comfort for you both:</strong> It can prevent sore nipples (ouch!) and ensure your baby is feeding effectively not gobbling up air (which can make them gassy).</p></li>

<li><p><strong>More skin to skin contact:</strong> This closeness can boost bonding and provide your baby with a sense of security.</p></li>
</ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">By getting it right, you&#8217;re setting the stage for a smoother breastfeeding journey. Less discomfort for you, more yummy milk for your baby, and those quiet, close moments that make it all worth it. </p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How to fix a shallow latch</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/3-11-1024x512.png" alt="baby with a deep latch on the breast" class="wp-image-1159" srcset="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/3-11-1024x512.png 1024w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/3-11-300x150.png 300w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/3-11-768x384.png 768w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/3-11.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Fixing a shallow latch can make breastfeeding more comfortable for you and help ensure your baby is getting enough milk. The right approach can transform your nursing experience into a smoother one.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe title="Breastfeeding: correct attachment" width="720" height="405" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/jyOt9aB6sOo?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step #1: Unlatch your baby</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A shallow latch is best fixed by just starting again. If your baby is latched on shallowly, gently insert your finger into the corner of their mouth to break the suction. Then, try latching again. This may take several attempts, but patience is key to helping your baby latch on properly. Your baby will probably protest but this is a necessary step to achieve a deeper latch. Don&#8217;t try to fix a poor latch with your baby still attached at the nipple. Your baby may <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://frombumptobubble.com/baby-keeps-pulling-off-breast-and-relatching">pull off the breast and attempt to relatch</a> themselves. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step #2: Position your baby correctly</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/infant-and-toddler-health/in-depth/breast-feeding/art-20546815" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/infant-and-toddler-health/in-depth/breast-feeding/art-20546815" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Your baby&#8217;s position</a> is key for a successful latch. Ensure their head, neck, and spine are in a straight line, and bring their body close to you, tummy to tummy is best. For the cross cradle position, support your baby&#8217;s head with the hand opposite to the breast you&#8217;re nursing from. In a football hold, tuck your baby under your arm like you would carry a football, supporting their head and neck with your hand.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step #3: Make a C or U shape with your hand</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Support your breast by forming a U or C shape with your hand ensuring your hand is well clear of the areola and nipple. This can help in guiding more of your breast tissue into your baby&#8217;s mouth to achieve a deeper latch.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step #4: Encourage a big mouthful of breast</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Wait until your baby opens their mouth wide before attempting to latch. You want them to take as much of the breast into their mouth as possible, not just the nipple, leading to a deeper and more comfortable latch. Hold your baby close to your breast, nose-to-nipple, allowing them to tilt their head back slightly. This helps the baby open their mouth wide. Stimulate your baby&#8217;s rooting reflex by brushing your nipple against their upper lip. Wait until your baby opens their mouth wide, like a yawn.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step #5: Guide your baby&#8217;s mouth to your nipple</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Quickly but gently bring your baby to your breast (not breast to baby) aiming for the nipple to go towards the roof of their mouth.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step #6: Ensure a large portion of areola is in the mouth</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Aim for your baby to take in a large portion of the areola, especially the part underneath the nipple. The baby&#8217;s lips should be flanged outward, like a fish.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step #7: Check your baby’s position:</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Your baby&#8217;s chin should be pressed into your breast, with their nose free to breathe. If needed, adjust your baby’s position gently to achieve this.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Step #8: Look for signs of a good and effective latch:</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Check for rhythmic sucking and swallowing. You should feel a tugging sensation but not pain. Your baby&#8217;s cheeks should be full, not sucked in.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Additional tips to achieve a deep latch:</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe loading="lazy" title="The &quot;flipple&quot; breastfeeding technique in the koala hold" width="720" height="405" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/CpPIO8DB6GY?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p><strong>Practice skin-to-skin:</strong> Holding your baby skin-to-skin can help improve the latching process. Skin-to-skin contact before feeding encourages your baby&#8217;s natural instinct to latch and can lead to a more intuitive feeding session.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Try the ‘Flipple Technique’: </strong>The &#8216;Flipple&#8217; or &#8216;exaggerated latch&#8217; technique involves flipping your nipple upwards as your baby opens their mouth, encouraging them to take a bigger mouthful of breast. This can often lead to a more secure and deep latch.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Stay calm and patient</strong>: It might take several tries to get a deep latch. Patience and persistence are key.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Use breastfeeding support</strong>: Consider seeking help from a lactation consultant or breastfeeding coach if you encounter difficulties.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Keep hydrated and comfortable</strong>: Ensure you are comfortable and have <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/breastfeeding-water-intake-calculator" rel="noopener noreferrer">plenty of water</a> and snacks nearby, as breastfeeding can be demanding.</p></li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Signs of a shallow latch</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/4-1024x512.jpg" alt="a baby with a shallow latch" class="wp-image-2823" srcset="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/4-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/4-300x150.jpg 300w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/4-768x384.jpg 768w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/4.jpg 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When you&#8217;re getting the hang of breastfeeding, spotting a shallow latch early can help you and your little one enjoy more comfortable nursing sessions.</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p><strong>Nipple pain</strong>: If you&#8217;re feeling <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/how-to-heal-nipple-fissure-while-breastfeeding" rel="noopener noreferrer">more than just initial nipple discomfort</a> and the pain lingers or gets worse after a feed, your newborn might be latched shallowly. The nipples could even look pinched, compressed, or misshapen.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Slow milk flow</strong>: Slow or interrupted milk flow could be a sign that your baby isn&#8217;t latched deeply enough to stimulate let-down effectively.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Latching technique</strong>: If your baby&#8217;s latch looks more like they&#8217;re sucking on the tip of the nipple rather than taking in a good portion of the breast, that&#8217;s a shallow latch.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Clicking sounds:</strong> Instead of hearing the rhythmic sound of swallowing, there might be a <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/clicking-during-breastfeeding" rel="noopener noreferrer">clicking or smacking sound</a> which suggests the latch isn&#8217;t deep enough.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Poor weight gain: </strong>Poor latch can mean poor milk transfer so your baby may not gain weight as expected or even lose weight.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Fussy at the breast:</strong> Babies with a shallow latch might be fussier at the breast because they&#8217;re not getting enough milk and are not satisfied after feeds.</p></li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why does my baby have a shallow latch?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Let&#8217;s look at why your little one might not be latching on deeply enough and how this can affect breastfeeding.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/5-5-1024x512.png" alt="a baby upset at the breast dues to shallow latch" class="wp-image-1393" srcset="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/5-5-1024x512.png 1024w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/5-5-300x150.png 300w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/5-5-768x384.png 768w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/5-5.png 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<ol class="wp-block-list">
<li><p><strong>Incorrect positioning:</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p>Your baby might not be positioned properly against the breast. Their body should be facing the mother&#8217;s body completely, and your baby&#8217;s nose should align with the nipple for an optimal latch.</p></li>
</ul>
</li>

<li><p><strong>Tight frenulum (tongue-tie or lip-tie):</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p><a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/tongue-tie-breastfeeding" rel="noopener noreferrer">Some babies have a tongue-tie</a> or lip-tie, where the frenulum (the membrane under the tongue or upper lip) restricts movement. This can prevent a deep latch.</p></li>
</ul>
</li>

<li><p><strong>Baby&#8217;s hunger cues misunderstood:</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p>Misinterpreting feeding cues can lead to offering the breast too late, making the baby frantic and less able to latch deeply.</p></li>
</ul>
</li>

<li><p><strong>Nipple confusion:</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p>Babies who have been bottle-fed may develop a preference for the bottle&#8217;s nipple, which requires a different sucking mechanism than breastfeeding.</p></li>
</ul>
</li>

<li><p><strong>Overactive letdown or engorgement:</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p>An overactive letdown (strong milk flow) can overwhelm the baby, leading to shallow latching.</p></li>

<li><p><a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/engorgement-vs-mastitis" rel="noopener noreferrer">Engorgement (overfull breasts)</a> makes it difficult for the baby to latch deeply.</p></li>
</ul>
</li>

<li><p><strong>Flat or inverted nipples:</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p>Flat or inverted nipples can make it difficult for a baby to draw the nipple and areola into their mouth deeply.</p></li>
</ul>
</li>

<li><p><strong>Baby&#8217;s oral motor dysfunction:</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p>Some babies may have difficulties due to oral motor issues, making it hard to sustain a deep latch.</p></li>
</ul>
</li>

<li><p><strong>Prematurity or low muscle tone:</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p>Babies born prematurely or with low muscle tone may have weak sucking reflexes and struggle with a proper latch.</p></li>
</ul>
</li>

<li><p><strong>Breastfeeding pain or injury:</strong></p>
<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p>If the mother experiences pain due to cracked or sore nipples, she may limit the time spent breastfeeding, leading to shallow latching.</p></li>
</ul>
</li>
</ol>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you&#8217;re encountering ongoing issues or feeling unsure about the latch, reaching out to a lactation consultant or breastfeeding coach can be a great move. They can offer guidance tailored to your unique situation, ensuring both you and your baby find your way to comfortable, effective nursing.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Ever wondered which Body Armor drink is best for breastfeeding? Can Body Armor drinks be a breastfeeding mom&#8217;s secret weapon for a healthy milk supply? With so many options, picking the right one can be a maze! </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We&#8217;ve sipped, tested, and narrowed down the choices for you! But remember, while our favorite worked for us, everyone&#8217;s different. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>Always chat with your healthcare pro before making any dietary changes.</em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Key takeaways</strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p>Body Armor drinks offer various ingredients that may positively impact breast milk production</p></li>

<li><p>Choosing the right drink requires considering key ingredients and their effects on milk supply and lactation</p></li>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Which Body Armor drink is best for breastfeeding?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Body Armor offers five distinct variants: <strong>Classic Sports Drink, Body Armor Lyte, Edge, Sport Water, </strong>and <strong>Flash I.V.</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>We recommend sticking to the Sport and Lyte versions &#8211; the others are great but not ideal for breastfeeding as they contain caffeine and other fortifiers not ideal for milk supply. From here we will just focus on these two.</em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our taste test took us through all the Body Armor flavors, and after a lot of deliberation, the <strong>Tropical Punch</strong> stole our hearts! It&#8217;s <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/breastfeeding-calorie-calculator" target="_blank" data-type="post" data-id="2234" rel="noreferrer noopener">not too bad on calories</a>, weighing in at just 120 for the 16oz bottle, and tastes great! And there are no artificial sweeteners, flavors or dyes plus it&#8217;s made with yummy coconut water!</p>

<div class="wp-block-image">
<figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="643" height="558" src="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Screenshot-234.png" alt="" class="wp-image-2073" srcset="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Screenshot-234.png 643w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Screenshot-234-300x260.png 300w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 643px) 100vw, 643px" /></figure>
</div>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Concerned about the sugar content? Here&#8217;s a pro tip: Blend it with pure coconut water. Not only will you reduce the sugar intake, but you&#8217;ll also gain some extra electrolytes. Win-win!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">We tried the Lyte ones too of course but couldn&#8217;t get away from the taste of artificial sweeteners (these use Stevia) so they weren&#8217;t quite our jam. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Still on the fence about which variant or flavor to pick? We&#8217;d suggest diving into the sample pack. It&#8217;s a flavor fiesta with the most popular flavors: Fruit Punch, Orange Mango, Grape and Tropical Punch Body Armor variants, letting you discover your personal favorite.</strong></p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Breastfeeding &amp; Body Armor drinks: A quick dive</h2>

<p class="has-text-align-start wp-block-paragraph">Breastfeeding is a beautiful yet sometimes tricky journey. Keeping up with your milk supply? That&#8217;s top priority. Some moms have whispered about Body Armor drinks being their little secret. While science hasn&#8217;t stamped its approval on these drinks boosting milk supply, many mamas swear by them.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Key ingredients in body armor drinks</h3>

<p class="has-text-align-start wp-block-paragraph">Wondering what makes Body Armor tick? Here&#8217;s a peek:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p><strong>Electrolytes &amp; Coconut Water:</strong> Think of these as your hydration heroes. They pack in nutrients and ensure you&#8217;re sipping enough throughout the day. And guess what? Staying hydrated is a big thumbs-up for increasing milk supply.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Vitamins Galore:</strong> We&#8217;re talking Vitamin A, C, and E. All great pals for breastfeeding moms.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Fluids &amp; Calories:</strong> Both are like gold for breastfeeding mamas.</p></li>
</ul>

<p class="has-text-align-start wp-block-paragraph">But, let&#8217;s chat sugar. The classic Body Armor is sweetened with pure cane sugar. If you&#8217;re watching your sugar, the Lyte version (with just a few grams), sweetened with natural Stevia, might be your match.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-start wp-block-paragraph">Worried about caffeine? Breathe easy. Body Armor is caffeine-free, focusing on filtered water to keep you hydrated without the buzz.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">A few more ingredients to note:</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p><strong>Citric Acid:</strong> Adds a zesty flavor and keeps the drink fresh.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Dipotassium Phosphate:</strong> Keeps the drink&#8217;s acidity in check.</p></li>

<li><p><strong>Vitamin &amp; Mineral Mix:</strong> Think niacinamide, magnesium oxide, and more. All to keep you feeling your best.</p></li>
</ul>

<p class="has-text-align-start wp-block-paragraph">And for the color? Natural vegetable juice concentrate. No artificial stuff here.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-start wp-block-paragraph"><strong>The Bottom Line?</strong> While there&#8217;s no scientific proof that Body Armor drinks directly increase breast milk supply, some breastfeeding mothers have shared positive experiences with these beverages. </p>

<p class="has-text-align-start wp-block-paragraph">So if you&#8217;re team Classic or team Lyte, both Body Armor drinks come loaded with goodies to support your breastfeeding journey. Just keep an eye on hydration and sugar, and you&#8217;re golden!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Effects on milk supply and lactation</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When it comes to body armor drinks and their effects on milk supply and lactation, there is no scientific evidence to prove their impact. However, some moms have experienced an increase in their <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/how-to-increase-milk-supply-quickly" data-type="post" data-id="1175">breast milk supply</a> after consuming body armor drinks.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Breastfeeding is a supply and demand process. The best way to increase milk supply is to breastfeed (or pump) frequently. So, the more your baby drinks, the more milk your body will produce.</strong> </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It&#8217;s important to note that low milk supply is a common concern for new moms, but insufficient breast milk production is actually rare. In fact, most women make one-third more breast milk than their babies typically consume.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Pros and cons of Body Armor drinks</h2>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Comparison of Body Armor with other drinks</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/2-4-1024x512.png" alt="" class="wp-image-656" srcset="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/2-4-1024x512.png 1024w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/2-4-300x150.png 300w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/2-4-768x384.png 768w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/2-4.png 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When it comes to choosing the best drink for breastfeeding to boost milk supply, it&#8217;s important to compare Body Armor with other popular options. This will give you a better idea of which drink works best for your needs.</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Body Armor vs G</strong><strong style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);">atorade:</strong><span style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);"> Gatorade is a popular sports drink known for its electrolytes and rehydration properties. While it can hydrate you, it&#8217;s important to note that it </span><strong style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);">lacks essential vitamins and nutrients designed specifically for breastfeeding mothers,</strong><span style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);"> such as those found in </span><a style="font-size: revert; font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);" href="https://milkology.org/content/which-body-armor-drink-is-best-for-breastfeeding" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Body Armor</a><span style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);">. Gatorade also tends to have a higher sodium content, which could lead to excess water retention.</span></li>

<li><strong>Body Armor vs Starbucks </strong><strong style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);">Pink Drin</strong><span style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);"><strong>k:</strong> Starbucks Pink Drink often combines coconut milk, ice, and various fruits. While it can be a refreshing option, <strong>it may not provide the same electrolytes and hydration as Body Armor or Gatorade. </strong>Additionally, the pink drink isn&#8217;t specifically formulated for breastfeeding mothers, so it may not provide all the necessary nutrients for lactation.</span></li>

<li><strong>Body Armor vs </strong><strong style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);">Lactation Smoothies</strong><span style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);"><strong>:</strong> Lactation smoothies can be beneficial for breastfeeding mothers, as they&#8217;re typically packed with fruits, vegetables, and other nutrient-rich ingredients that can help support lactation. However, they </span><strong style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);">might not provide the same levels of hydration and electrolytes found in Body Armor or Gatorade</strong><span style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);">, so it could be helpful to combine them with a hydrating drink for the best results.</span></li>

<li><strong>Body Armor vs </strong><strong style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);">Lactation Teas</strong><span style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);"><strong>: </strong>Lactation teas are another popular option for breastfeeding moms, as they contain herbs and ingredients known to increase milk supply, like fenugreek and fennel. While these teas provide a relaxing and soothing option, again, </span><strong style="font-size: revert; color: var(--global-palette4); font-family: Raleway, var(--global-fallback-font);">they may not offer the hydration and electrolytes provided by Body Armor.</strong></li>

<li><strong>Body Armor vs Protein Powders for Breastfeeding Moms: </strong>Protein powders made for breastfeeding moms are a fantastic way of getting all the essential nutrients to support your breastfeeding journey. <strong>Women often prefer to use these powders as a quick and convenient breakfast then have a Body Armor in the afternoon for a boost</strong> (while sipping that all-important water in between of course!</li>

<li><strong>Body Armor vs Coconut Water Breastfeeding: </strong>Body Armor and coconut water are both popular hydration choices for breastfeeding mothers, but <strong>Body Armor may have an edge due to its additional nutrients</strong>. While coconut water is a natural source of electrolytes and hydration, Body Armor, which contains coconut water, also offers a blend of electrolytes and vitamins.</li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">So, when choosing a drink to support your breastfeeding journey, consider the benefits each option offers. Keep in mind the importance of hydration, electrolytes, and essential nutrients specifically designed for lactating mothers. Body Armor provides a solid option, but feel free to explore other possibilities and combinations to find what works best for you and your baby.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Other considerations for breastfeeding moms</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/13-3-1024x512.png" alt="" class="wp-image-1169" srcset="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/13-3-1024x512.png 1024w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/13-3-300x150.png 300w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/13-3-768x384.png 768w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/13-3.png 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Keep in mind that although Body Armor drinks might be helpful for some breastfeeding mothers, it&#8217;s also essential to focus on other effective strategies. For instance, <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://frombumptobubble.com/how-to-combine-breastfeeding-and-pumping">combining breastfeeding and pumping</a> can help boost your milk supply, and knowing <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://frombumptobubble.com/how-to-increase-milk-supply-quickly">how to increase milk supply quickly</a> can be beneficial as well. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Additionally, implementing <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://frombumptobubble.com/best-breastfeeding-tips-for-newborns">breastfeeding tips for newborns</a> gives you a better chance at successful nursing for both you and your little one.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Pumping</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In addition to hydration, focusing on your <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://frombumptobubble.com/how-to-wean-off-pumping">pumping techniques</a> is a crucial aspect for breastfeeding moms. Power pumping can help with low milk supply, but mastering the right technique can make all the difference. Don&#8217;t forget to follow a healthy diet rich in nutrients to support both you and your baby.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Hormones</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Navigating <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://frombumptobubble.com/how-to-naturally-balance-hormones-while-breastfeeding">hormone balance</a> during the postpartum phase is essential for a smooth breastfeeding experience as well. Make sure to pay attention to how your body changes during menstruation and adjust your routine accordingly. This might involve pumping more frequently or adjusting your diet to support milk production.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The experience of breastfeeding also helps to promote attachment between you and your baby. The level of attachment may vary, but <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://frombumptobubble.com/are-breastfed-babies-more-attached-to-their-mothers">breastfed babies are considered more attached</a> to their mothers due to the closeness and intimacy that nursing provides.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Multitasking</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As a busy mom, finding ways to make breastfeeding more convenient is beneficial. Learning <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://frombumptobubble.com/how-to-breastfeed-while-baby-wearing">how to breastfeed while baby wearing</a> can make multitasking easier and help you bond with your baby.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Skincare</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It&#8217;s important to be aware of any ingredients that could potentially harm your baby while breastfeeding, such as exposing them to allergens or ingesting skincare products containing harmful chemicals. So, educate yourself on <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://frombumptobubble.com/what-skincare-ingredients-to-avoid-while-breastfeeding">which skincare ingredients to avoid</a> during your breastfeeding journey.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Bottles</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Regarding baby bottles, there might be a confusion on <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/how-many-baby-bottles-do-i-need-if-breastfeeding" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">how many baby bottles you need</a> while breastfeeding. It&#8217;s important to have the <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/best-bottle-for-breastfed-baby-who-refuses-bottle" target="_blank" data-type="post" data-id="2092" rel="noreferrer noopener">right number of bottles handy</a>, even when exclusively breastfeeding, to help you during emergencies or when your baby requires supplemental feedings.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Low milk supply</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you&#8217;re struggling with low milk supply, there are several ways to increase it. For example, nursing more frequently, using breast compression, and ensuring optimal latch can help in boosting milk supply. It&#8217;s also essential to maintain a <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK235590/">healthy diet during lactation</a>, as maternal nutrition plays a significant role in milk composition.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Conclusion</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Body Armor drinks might just be that little boost some breastfeeding mamas need, offering hydration and essential nutrients that could play a part in keeping that milk supply flowing. </p>

<p class="has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph">But remember, while they might be a tasty addition to your routine, they shouldn&#8217;t be the star of the show! Tried and true breastfeeding techniques, like <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/how-to-transition-from-pumping-to-breastfeeding" data-type="post" data-id="1232">transitioning from pumping to direct feeding</a>, are crucial in ensuring a fulfilling journey for both you and your little one.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">And hey, always tune into what your body and heart are telling you. If things get tough or you decide it&#8217;s time to<a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/giving-up-breastfeeding-guilt" data-type="post" data-id="1137"> close the breastfeeding chapter</a>, know that it&#8217;s perfectly okay. Your journey is uniquely yours, and whatever choices you make, embrace them with love and confidence. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After all, it&#8217;s all about ensuring the best for you and your baby!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Are you struggling to produce enough milk for your little one? </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You&#8217;re not alone &#8211; many new moms worry about their milk supply. Enter lactation cookies: a popular treat believed to give breastfeeding moms a much-needed boost. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">But you may be asking yourself: &#8220;How many lactation cookies should I eat per day?&#8221; &#8220;And what&#8217;s the science behind them?&#8221; </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In this blog post, we&#8217;ll delve into the world of lactation cookies, exploring their ingredients, effectiveness, and potential side effects.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-start wp-block-paragraph">The answer to the ideal number of lactation cookies isn&#8217;t one-size-fits-all. <strong>As a starting point, try 2-3 cookies per day, and adjust based on your body&#8217;s response. </strong>Be mindful, though, as too many lactation cookies can lead to unwanted weight gain! And remember, these cookies aren&#8217;t a magic solution; a healthy, balanced diet with ample hydration is crucial for breast milk supply.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-start wp-block-paragraph">Still unsure about the right lactation cookie intake for you? Consult a lactation consultant or healthcare provider for personalized guidance. After all, every mother&#8217;s breastfeeding journey is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. So let&#8217;s dive in and learn more about these intriguing treats!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What are lactation cookies?</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/5-1024x512.png" alt="" class="wp-image-1246" srcset="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/5-1024x512.png 1024w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/5-300x150.png 300w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/5-768x384.png 768w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/5.png 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Lactation cookies are a type of cookie that contains ingredients believed to promote breast milk supply in breastfeeding mothers. These cookies are a popular choice for nursing mothers who want to <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/how-to-increase-milk-supply-quickly" target="_blank" data-type="post" data-id="1175" rel="noreferrer noopener">increase or maintain their milk production</a>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The natural ingredients in lactation cookies vary, but they often include:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><p>oats</p></li>

<li><p>brewers yeast</p></li>

<li><p>flaxseed</p></li>
</ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">These ingredients are believed to <strong>stimulate the production of prolactin</strong>, a hormone that is responsible for milk production.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Lactation cookies can be made at home or they can be purchased pre-made from specialty stores or online retailers. Many recipes are easy to make and can be customized to suit individual tastes and preferences.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I&#8217;ll pop a link to a delicious recipe later in this post so can make your own lactation cookies!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While lactation cookies are not a substitute for proper nutrition and hydration, they can be a helpful addition to a breastfeeding mom&#8217;s diet. It is <strong>recommended that nursing mothers eat 2-3 lactation cookies per day</strong>, ideally about <strong>an hour before nursing or pumping</strong>. This can help ensure that the ingredients in the lactation cookies work and are fully absorbed by the body and can have a chance to increase breast milk supply.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Do lactation cookies work?</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/3-1024x512.png" alt="" class="wp-image-1244" srcset="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/3-1024x512.png 1024w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/3-300x150.png 300w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/3-768x384.png 768w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/3.png 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Let&#8217;s take a closer look at the scientific and anecdotal evidence to find out.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Scientific evidence</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While there is limited scientific evidence on the effectiveness of lactation cookies, some of the ingredients have been shown to boost milk supply. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>For example, oats are a common ingredient in lactation cookies and are known to contain saponins, which can </strong><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.verywellfamily.com/oats-oatmeal-and-breastfeeding-431850"><strong>stimulate the production of prolactin</strong></a><strong>, a hormone that is essential for milk production.</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Additionally, some studies have found that certain <strong>galactagogues, such as </strong><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK501779/"><strong>fenugreek</strong></a>, can increase your milk supply.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">However, it&#8217;s worth noting that the research on these ingredients is still limited, and more studies are needed to fully understand their impact on milk production.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Anecdotal evidence</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Despite the lack of scientific evidence, many breastfeeding moms swear by and regularly eat lactation cookies to produce more milk for their babies. Some mothers even claim that lactation cookies are more effective than prescription medications or other galactagogues.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It&#8217;s important to note that anecdotal evidence should be taken with a grain of salt, as individual experiences can vary widely!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How many lactation cookies should I eat per day?</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/2-1-1024x512.png" alt="" class="wp-image-1243" srcset="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/2-1-1024x512.png 1024w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/2-1-300x150.png 300w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/2-1-768x384.png 768w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/2-1.png 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Breastfeeding can be a <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/giving-up-breastfeeding-guilt" target="_blank" data-type="post" data-id="1137" rel="noreferrer noopener">challenging journey</a>, and you may be struggling with <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/how-to-increase-milk-supply-quickly" target="_blank" data-type="post" data-id="1175" rel="noreferrer noopener">low milk supply </a>or <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/engorgement-vs-mastitis" target="_blank" data-type="post" data-id="851" rel="noreferrer noopener">engorged breasts</a>. You may be wondering if you should start eating lactation cookies to promote healthy lactation before reaching for medications, but how many should you eat per day? </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In this section, we&#8217;ll explore the factors to consider and dosage recommendations to help you make an informed decision.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Factors to consider</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The number of lactation cookies you should eat per day depends on several factors, including your caloric demands, breastfeeding journey, and any side effects you may experience. <strong>Breastfeeding moms require an </strong><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.cdc.gov/breastfeeding/breastfeeding-special-circumstances/diet-and-micronutrients/maternal-diet.html#:~:text=An%20additional%20330%20to%20400,active%2C%20non%2Dpregnant%20women%20who"><strong>additional 330 &#8211; 400 calories per day</strong></a>, so it&#8217;s essential to ensure you&#8217;re getting enough nutrients to support milk production.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">How fast do lactation cookies work?</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It&#8217;s also important to note that a lactation cookie is not a magic solution! Some moms may see an increase in milk supply within a day or two, while others may not notice a difference at all. </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Dosage recommendations</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As a general guideline, it&#8217;s recommended to start with <strong>2-3 lactation cookies per day</strong> and gradually increase as needed. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>It&#8217;s best to eat them about an hour before pumping or nursing to help stimulate milk production. </strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you&#8217;re nursing frequently (8+ times per day), you may need to eat multiple lactation cookies (3-4) per day.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It&#8217;s important to listen to your body and adjust the dosage as needed. If you&#8217;re not seeing an increase in milk supply after a few days, you can try eating a little more or experimenting with different recipes. Some moms may find that they need to eat up to 6 cookies per day, while others may only need one or two.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Best time to eat lactation cookies</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There&#8217;s no specific time of day that&#8217;s best to eat lactation cookie snacks, but many moms find that <strong>eating them in the morning helps boost milk production throughout the day</strong>. It&#8217;s also important to note that lactation cookies are not a substitute for a healthy diet and should be eaten in moderation.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Are lactation cookies nutritious?</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/7-1024x512.png" alt="" class="wp-image-1248" srcset="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/7-1024x512.png 1024w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/7-300x150.png 300w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/7-768x384.png 768w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/7.png 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">What are the common ingredients in lactation cookies?</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-table"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Ingredient</strong></td><td><strong>Benefits</strong></td></tr><tr><td>Oats</td><td>A good source of beta-glucan, a type of soluble fiber that has been shown to increase milk production. Oats are also rich in healthy carbohydrates, iron, fibre, calcium, and B vitamins, which are essential for maintaining a healthy milk supply.</td></tr><tr><td>Brewer&#8217;s yeast</td><td>A type of nutritional yeast rich in B vitamins, protein, and minerals, including iron which can help boost energy levels. Brewers yeast is believed to be a galactagogue, which means it can help stimulate milk production.</td></tr><tr><td>Flax seed</td><td>A good source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for brain development in infants. It is also rich in lignans, which are compounds that can help balance hormones in the body plus may help prevent irritable bowel syndrome. Flaxseed is a common ingredient in lactation cookies because it is believed to help increase milk production.</td></tr><tr><td>Fennel</td><td>A herb that has been used for centuries to promote lactation. It contains phytoestrogens, which are plant compounds that mimic the effects of estrogen in the body. Fennel is believed to help increase milk production and can also help soothe digestive issues in both mother and baby.</td></tr></tbody></table><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">A table of the nutritional benefits of breastfeeding women taking lactation cookies</figcaption></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Lactation cookies may also contain other ingredients such as seeds, nuts, wheat germ, coconut oil, and sugar. Some lactation cookies are also dairy-free, making them a good option for mothers with lactose intolerance or dairy allergies.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Nutrient-dense cookies</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Typically made with ingredients associated with increased milk supply, also known as <strong>&#8220;galactagogues&#8221;</strong>, such as oats, flaxseed, and brewer&#8217;s yeast, lactation cookie recipes tend to incorporate these staples along with other nutrient-dense ingredients such as nuts, seeds, and dried fruit. These ingredients can provide <strong>a range of vitamins and minerals</strong> that are important for overall health and well-being.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Calories</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It&#8217;s important to note that<strong> lactation cookies can be high in calories</strong>. This is because they are often made with ingredients like butter, sugar, and chocolate chips. While these ingredients can make them delicious, they can also contribute to weight gain if consumed in excess. So just keep an eye on how many lactation cookies you eat per day. We all know that <a href="https://frombumptobubble.com/why-does-breastfeeding-make-you-hungry" target="_blank" data-type="post" data-id="1224" rel="noreferrer noopener">breastfeeding can make you very hungry</a> so be mindful of this!!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Fat</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Lactation cookies can also be high in fat, particularly saturated fat. While some healthy fats are important for overall health, <strong>too much saturated fat can increase the risk of heart disease</strong>. Nursing mothers should be mindful of their fat intake and choose breastfeeding cookies with healthy ingredients that are lower in saturated fat.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How do lactation cookies help with milk production?</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Lactation cookies contain galactagogues</strong>, which are substances that can help increase prolactin levels in the body. Prolactin is a hormone that plays a crucial role in breast milk production. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>When </strong><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.verywellfamily.com/prolactin-and-breastfeeding-3860902"><strong>prolactin levels are high</strong></a><strong>, the body produces more breast milk.</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Galactagogues can be found in a variety of foods, including <strong>oats, brewer&#8217;s yeast, flax seeds, and fenugreek.</strong> Lactation cookies typically contain a combination of these ingredients, making them a convenient and tasty way to boost milk production.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Can I expect any side effects when I eat lactation cookies?</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/3-5-1024x512.png" alt="" class="wp-image-707" srcset="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/3-5-1024x512.png 1024w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/3-5-300x150.png 300w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/3-5-768x384.png 768w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/3-5.png 1200w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Bloating</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Lactation cookies contain <strong>ingredients that can cause bloating</strong>, such as wheat flour, sugar, and butter. If you eat too many lactation cookies, you may experience discomfort, gas, or bloating. It is recommended that you start taking lactation cookies first with a small serving size and gradually increase your intake to avoid these side effects.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Gassiness</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Some moms may experience gassiness after eating lactation cookies. This can be due to the <strong>high fiber content in some of the ingredients</strong>. If you notice that you are experiencing gassiness after eating lactation cookies, try reducing your serving size or switching to a different brand that uses different ingredients.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Weight gain</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Lactation cookies can contain a lot of calories in a small portion</strong>. Some of the ingredients in the cookies, such as butter and sugar, may cause weight gain. You may gain weight if you are not burning those extra calories off through exercise or by breastfeeding. It is important to keep this in mind and eat lactation cookies in moderation.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Other ways to increase milk supply</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="782" height="391" src="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-173.png" alt="" class="wp-image-1212" srcset="https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-173.png 782w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-173-300x150.png 300w, https://frombumptobubble.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-173-768x384.png 768w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 782px) 100vw, 782px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In addition to lactation cookies, there are other ways to increase milk supply. Here are a few methods you can try:</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Lactation supplements</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There are several lactation supplements available that can help increase milk supply. Some popular ingredients in these supplements include fenugreek, fennel, and blessed thistle. However, it is important to note that not all women respond to these supplements in the same way, and some may experience side effects such as upset stomach or diarrhea. It is always best to consult with a healthcare provider before taking any new herbal supplements.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Breastfeeding diet</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">What you eat can also impact your milk supply. It is important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Additionally, consuming foods that are rich in certain nutrients such as chromium and omega-3 fatty acids can also help support milk production. Some examples include whole grains, dark leafy greens, and fatty fish.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Pumping</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Pumping can also help increase milk supply. It is recommended to pump after breastfeeding to help stimulate milk flow and signal to the body to produce more milk. </p>

However, the number of cookies you should eat per day varies depending on your body and your milk supply &#8211; <strong>start with 2-3 cookies a day and adjust as necessary.</strong></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A lactation consultant can provide personalized recommendations based on your individual needs and circumstances.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It&#8217;s important to note that lactation cookies should not be relied upon as the sole solution for low milk supply issues. They should be used in conjunction with other methods such as nursing on demand, pumping, and staying hydrated.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Overall, lactation cookies can be a delicious and convenient way to support milk production. Just remember to start slowly, consult with a lactation consultant if needed, and use them as part of a comprehensive approach to breastfeeding.</p>
